After dealing with little to no water service for more than a month, this homeowner knew it was time to address the problem at its source. The issue was traced back to a failing main water line—the underground pipe responsible for delivering fresh water from the city meter to the home. When a main water service line begins to deteriorate, homeowners may experience low water pressure, inconsistent water flow, discolored water, unexplained increases in their water bill, or, in severe cases, a complete loss of water service.
To restore reliable water to the property, our technicians performed a full main water line repipe. This involved installing a brand-new water service line from the meter to the home and connecting it to the existing plumbing system. The project also included the installation of a new whole-home shut-off valve, giving the homeowner a convenient way to isolate the water supply if future repairs or emergencies ever arise. A tracer wire was installed alongside the new line as well, making it easier to locate underground in the future without unnecessary digging.
Because the existing water line was located beneath concrete, our team carefully jackhammered and excavated the necessary areas to safely access the piping. Once the new water service was installed, we sealed the entry point into the home to maintain a watertight foundation and completed a concrete patch where access was required. After installation, the system was thoroughly tested to verify proper water flow and pressure throughout the home.
To ensure the work met all local requirements, the project also included a city inspection to verify the quality and safety of the installation. Thanks to the new water service line, this homeowner finally has dependable water service again after more than a month of frustration.
